Web Development

As an independent web developer, it has been my goal to create websites that empower the client to easily update and change the site on their own. Before blog packages like Wordpress, to do so required using a combination of databases, XML, scripting languages and flat files. Fortunately, today most of the tools needed to maintain a website are open-source or web-based, therefore much of the development work becomes the customization and coordination of various services. The trick is to elegantly weave these elements together such that both the end-user and the maintainer of the website feel they have a cohesive package.

I have always had a passion for using computer based synthesis to create new and interesting sounds — music was never as interesting to me as pure sound. Over the years I have become well-versed in the tools of the trade (Logic, Pro Tools, Live, Reaktor, Max/MSP, Supercollider) and Modular Synthesis in general, and I have also had the chance chance to work with a number of interesting clients. When undertaking an audio project, I endeavor to meet the client's requirements while preserving my own artistic vision in the process.

Recording artist

Recording solo under the name Lesser and other noms de guerre, I've released more than 10 albums, including releases on Matador Records, Tigerbeat6 Records, Vague Terrain Records and Vinyl Communications. The Lesser album, "Gearhound," both won an Honorable Mention at Ars Electronica in 2001 and was reviewed as a Detriment to Humanity by the Stanford University Newspaper.
